2013 Vino del Poggio Vino Bianco

I ordered a glass of this orange wine at the Four Horsemen in Brooklyn and despite having consumed sake earlier in the evening it made my palate stand at attention.

Vineyard: South facing, 650 feet above sea level with clay and limestone.

Farming: Beyond organic.

Vinification: Three-month maceration on its skins. Aged in stainless steel for two years with occasional racking. Unfiltered.

Tasting Note: A tightly woven mesh of tannins with kumquats, guava, floral notes, cider and a super long finish.

Food Pairing: Peking duck. Green curries.

Drinkability: Now – 2028.
