The Wine Industry Equity Pledge 

The Vinguard created The Wine Industry Equity Pledge in 2019 in response to #MeToo revelations among wine industry professionals. In 2021, it underwent a massive revision, providing information and prescriptions that wine businesses and professionals can take to foster belonging, inclusion, diversity, equity, and fairness in the industry. The Pledge is the culmination of our wine colleagues’ and social justice professionals’ tireless work and emotional labor. 

We ask those who sign to send us an annual report letting us know what steps they've taken to meet the Pledge. By signing, they acknowledge that the wine industry has a history of oppression, that they might have benefited, faced discrimination, or both, and that they use the Pledge as a guide to make their workspaces equitable and fair. We don't expect everyone to meet every tenet of the Pledge, but to always strive to be better.
